We start by listening to the tenant to understand their competitive landscape, preferred co-tenancy and characteristics of their customers. After the initial strategy is put together, we get in the car and do the necessary work to get profitable stores open on time and within budget. 

The insights and connections made from representing national tenants help us market properties for sale or lease and identify investment opportunities. Over the last 18 years, we’ve completed more than 300 commercial real estate transactions in Texas.

Clay’s passion for helping brands break into new markets and establish strategies for growth led to the opening of more than 100 Mattress One locations in the Houston market in less than four years. 

Prior to forming the company, Clay worked at Houston-based commercial real estate firms Baker Katz and Scarborough Real Estate, where he represented retailers like Smile Brands, T-Mobile, Family Dollar, CVS and Advance Auto Parts. Before working with Scarborough Real Estate, Clay served as Houston region real estate manager for Family Dollar, after which he became the retailer’s broker, playing a critical role in more than 80 store openings.

Born and raised in Houston, Clay graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He supports organizations that treat the homeless community with dignity and provide foster children with safe and loving homes. Clay enjoys playing beach volleyball, volunteering for Big Brothers Big Sisters and spending time with his wife and fellow Houston native, Kim Scates.
